Most petrol vehicles can be
converted to run on LPG Autogas. Diesel cars and vans can also be
converted, but it is a more complex process.
The LPGA
run an Approved Installer Scheme that ensures your vehicle is being
converted to the highest standard. Consumers should look out for the
logo of the Scheme to ensure that the conversion will be undertaken in
a safe and satisfactory manner.
The Solengin Ltd consists of converters approved by the LPGA and specific equipment manufacturers. We will estimate cost of conversion for free. Contact us for an instant quote.
It is recommended that you have the work carried out by an approved
LPGA installer. These companies comply with set standards in training
and examination of installers, along with a thorough inspection
process. To find an approved LPGA installer in your area check here.
Conversion is a simple process:
- LPG being similar in properties to petrol makes conversions relatively simple.
- A typical conversion takes 2-3 days.
- Gas tanks, normally fitted in the boot, can be cylindrical or toroidal (placed in spare wheel well) to owners preference and vehicle range.
- Re-fuelling is by outside remote filling valve mounted in a convenient rear panel of the vehicle body.
- Other components are located in the engine bay with controls (switch) in the vehicle interior.
A typical conversion:
Conversions differ from vehicle to vehicle depending on the engine type (e.g. carburettor, injection, injection with CAT, turbo etc.) and various other factors. Generally however, the main components that go into a conversion are as follows:
- LPG tank
- LPG solenoid valve
- Regulator (Vaporizer)
- Mixer
- Lambda control system
- Electronic emulators
- Switch and LPG gauge

- Logo of the LPGA Approved Installer Scheme
- Certificate number unique to every certificate
- Name and PGA number of the technician responsible for the conversion. These details can be confirmed with the Approval Certificate that the company will be able to exhibit
- Silver security embossing to prevent reproduction by a photocopier. Beware of forgeries - the "tick" will appear as black only and not embossed silver
